FINDERY

A Gallery Treasure Hunt

loading...

Findery is a new way to play Gallery—a treasure hunt twist that gets kids moving, exploring, and noticing the world around them. (Think “Easter egg hunt,” but with less candy and pandemonium!) Any number of players can join, making Findery perfect for families, classrooms, and groups of friends.

Setup

  1. Choose how many tiles to hide. Younger kids do great with 4–8 tiles. Older kids or larger groups can hunt for up to 20.
  2. Gather your pieces. Pull the picture tiles you want to use from the bag. For each one, gather the matching tile cover—the one with the same picture printed on its underside.
  3. Lay out the tile covers. On a nearby table or flat surface, place the tile covers face down, so the pictures are facing up and visible to the players.
  4. Hide the picture tiles. Tuck the wooden tiles around your play area—indoors or outdoors. (If playing outside, you can slip each tile into a small plastic bag to protect it from the elements.)

How to Play

Kids search for the hidden wooden picture tiles. Whenever they find one, they bring it back and place it inside its matching tile cover. You can play two ways:

  • Competitive: Each child keeps their found tiles in their own pile. Whoever finds the most wins.
  • Cooperative: Work together as a team to find them all—no scores, just shared excitement.

Optional Layers

These simple twists help you tailor Findery to your particular goals for your little ones—whether that’s memory, reflection, or daily habits.

  • Memory Match Upgrade: Swap the tile covers for the picture tiles from the set with Bible chapter references on the back. Instead of matching picture to picture, kids match each found image to its corresponding chapter reference.
  • 20 Day Story Journey: Choose one new image each day for 20 days. In the morning, hide its picture tile and place its tile cover next to the previous days’ covers in a growing row. Kids search for the tile throughout the day, and at night you read the story connected to that image—a gentle, playful way to build excitement around your daily reading rhythms.

New ways to play Gallery are already in the works. Keep exploring, invent your own twists, and enjoy the cadence of play, read, reflect, repeat.
